As has been noted here before, South Africa went almost immediately from the joy of hosting the World Cup into a constitutional crisis involving the government's intent to impose restrictions on the press to avoid criticism and investigative reporting.

Not surprisingly, many Madam & Eve strips since then have been tied to the specifics of those issues, to the point where you really have to be following South African politics closely to know what's going on.

Today's strip, however, is universal. Some of those horses have been running in races on this side of the Atlantic as well.
