Comic Strip of the Day

CSotD: ‘Deflocked’ deserves at least a set of steak knives

Deflocked

Here's Jeff Corriveau's "Deflocked" with a swipe both at pretend on-line farming and at the factors that make the actual business nearly impossible.

This two-year-old strip is worth following if for no other reason than because it features a sheep named "Mamet" who shares the same sunny outlook on life as his namesake. Not only is this a delighfully  literate allusion, but Corriveau, a successful comedy writer with major TV credits of his own, has done what few if any other cartoonists have over the past decade: He has tapped into the syndicates' love of misanthropic wisecracking animals with one that is actually funny on a consistent basis.

Add to that the fact that you can look at his comic and tell not only which character is which but what they are doing and he's quite the standout among new talent.

Mike Peterson has posted his "Comic Strip of the Day" column every day since 2010. His opinions are his own, but we welcome comments either agreeing or in opposition.
