Comic Strip of the Day

CSotD: Friday Classic: Arlo and Janis (3/15/2000) and me and Vaska

Ajtv
I'd just arrived home from the airport last night with a brand-new, nine-week-old puppy, and we were bonding by watching Thursday Night Football on the NFL Network together.

This little fellow, innocent as he was the day he was born (October 2), arrived at the Burlington airport late Thursday afternoon, fresh out of Orlando, which means he was encountering snow and zero-F IMG_3079temperatures for the first time in his sweet, short life. And he was okay on the 90-minute ride back home, though I had to keep reaching back to give him a few scritches from time to time, to assure him that life was okay.

Then we got home and he was thrilled to find that puppies get fed even in strange, cold places, and that they also get cuddled and played with. And they get to be up on the couch and to snuggle in with the Person Who Controls All of Life.

And everything was wonderfully mellow and gentle and sweet.

And then some dumb sonofabitch had to go and get called for holding on the six-yard-line.

  1. Welcome home, Vaska. You will adjust, and so will he.

  2. The animals around here have learned that a deep inhalation precedes a loud curse. They now head for the hills as soon as they hear one of us take a deep breath.
Welcome, Vaska! You’ll love it there.
