In our family this is a “family joke.” It can be used in a lot of different situations. We just say “the Curate’s egg” and everyone chuckles or smiles…or not!

I’d never heard that phrase until recently. We always used the punchline — “parts of it are excellent.”
All of the cartoon is excellent.
