Telnaes and Wuerker and Jones Oh My

As reported earlier this month Ann Telnaes was to receive the 2025 William Randolph Hearst Award. And so she did. Ward Sutton posted a picture with Ann holding the award, with Mark Fiore also in attendance.

Wuerker Related
Also this month Mike Rhode visited editorial cartoonist Matt Wuerker and took a baker’s dozen of pics.
Matt Wuerker is the cartoonist at Politico and has been since the very beginning. It’s based in my town, but I’d never visited the newsroom. During the government shutdown, Matt invited me to come by. With his permission, here’s some photos.

His Name is Jones, Clay’s One of the Jones Boys
While Clay Jones insists he is not back his recuperation is just damn amazing!
I am not back. I appreciate all the encouragement people are giving me, but please don’t believe that I’m back 100 percent. I am not back to doing this daily. I am not back to creating art on the same level I was before the stroke. I’m not even back to writing the kind of ideas I was known for before the stroke. But I assure you that I am working my ass off to return to my pre-stroke level.

Creative note: It was very hard to draw this cartoon, much like the last one, yet easier than the last one. Most of this was drawn with my right hand, and my shoulder wasn’t nearly as sore as it was after drawing my last cartoon. My left hand did most of the coloring while my right hand did most of the inking.
Check out Clay’s progress at his Claytoonz Substack, and more immediately on his Facebook page.
