Dana Simpson, earlier in life known as David Craig Simpson or D.C. Simpson, is a comic creator from the first generation of American webcomics, whose imaginative creations have also gained more mainstream success. Her breakthrough comic was the funny animal strip ‘Ozy and Millie’ (1998-2008). Its satire of teenage life and eccentric characters helped it grow a cult following. Simpson showed a more political side of herself with ‘I Drew This’ (2004-2009), a commentary on U.S. politics under the George W. Bush administration. Her best-known and most popular series is ‘Phoebe and Her Unicorn’ (2012- ), a children’s gag comic about the friendship between a young girl and her magic unicorn. Running as a webcomic and since 2015 also as a traditional newspaper comic, their funny and sometimes strange endeavors have been translated into several languages.
