Press & Dakotan Comics Survey
The Yankton Daily Press and Dakotan is dropping a couple comics. (Or here.)
Some changes are coming to our daily ‘Toons page, and here’s the plan: To make those changes, we must drop TWO of the current comic strips/panels from the page. And that’s where you come in.
We want you to tell us what your four (4) favorite strips are and what your four (4) LEAST favorite strips are.

This week, the Press & Dakotan launched a reader survey of our comics strip page (which we call the ‘Toons page because that was my short-hand reference to the section at one time). We’re aiming to make some changes with the page, so we’re seeking input on what you like and what you don’t.
Press & Dakotan Editor Kelly Hertz explains why (or here):
The newspaper industry as a whole has struggled in recent years, and the comic strip business has also taken on different dimensions.
Some strips have stopped doing new material altogether — “Peanuts” is the most obvious example, with the new run of strips ending one day before its creator, Charles Schulz, died in 2000. Repeats have been running ever since.
However, I’ve also noticed that some of the ongoing comic strips tend to repeat a lot of material, not unlike TV shows airing reruns. They don’t always point it out to you because, let’s face it, can readers really remember all that day-to-day material from year to year?
Nevertheless, the comics page is still an essential part of the newspaper experience, which is why we felt it was time to do a refresher with it.
We have a plan, and as our survey notes, two of the current strips we offer need to go as part of the remodeling.
I have been unable to determine the content of their comics page – what comics or how many they run.
