Mr. Wilson’s Recommended Reading for Youthful Girls & Boys
Skip to commentsComic books have been a gateway to reading for generations. They combine colorful artwork with engaging stories that can pull even the most reluctant readers into the joy of books. Whether your child loves superheroes, fantasy adventures, or slice-of-life humor, there’s a comic out there for them.

Jack Wilson at Nerdbot lists the 15 Best Comic Books for Kids. Among them are a couple of comic strip collections.

10. Phoebe and Her Unicorn [link added] – Magical Comic for Elementary Readers
Imagine having a unicorn as your best friend. This lighthearted series is filled with humor, charm, and heartwarming life lessons for readers 7–12.
11. Calvin and Hobbes [link added] – Classic Comic Strips Kids Still Love
A timeless classic, Calvin and Hobbes captures childhood imagination like no other. While originally a newspaper comic strip, its collected volumes are still among the most beloved comics for kids.
I would like to add a couple more series highly recommended for girls and boys:

Little Lulu by John Stanley with Irving Tripp and Wallace the Brave by Will Henry.

A Note: Most of the recommended books can be read for free at your local public library!
