Mr. Wilson’s Recommended Reading for Youthful Girls & Boys

 Comic books have been a gateway to reading for generations. They combine colorful artwork with engaging stories that can pull even the most reluctant readers into the joy of books. Whether your child loves superheroes, fantasy adventures, or slice-of-life humor, there’s a  comic out there for them.

  1. I am STILL waiting for Will Henry’s publisher to see the light and release the Wallace & Gromit strips in landscape format. Chopping and zooming the panels to fit into portrait format is a waste of paper and a disservice to the artwork.

    1. A Wallace the Brave/Wallace and Gromit crossover would be something 😛

      but agreed, “Wallace the Brave” should be released in the old square/landscape book format in order to preserve the strip in its original state

  2. Little Lulu is a great recommendation. It can be hard to tell what’s OK for kids to read nowadays, so whenever my kids were young, I presented them with plenty of 1950s-1960s comic book collections, because they pretty much followed the Comics Code.

    1. My granddaughter was the perfect age when Dark Horse began releasing those Little Lulu trade paperbacks every two or three months. She loved them (and still has ’em), devouring the comics upon being gifted them. I think I got her the first dozen/dozen and half tpbs – and yes, having missed them the first time around I read them before passing them on.
