Gerard Alsteens, better known as Gal, turns 85 today. He is one of the oldest and beloved political and social cartoonists still working in Belgium. He’s best known for his social commentary.

His cartooning career started in 1960 in the magazines De Nieuwe and De Zwijger. Since 1983 his work has been published in the weekly magazine Knack. You can continue to see his work at Cartoon Movement.
