Comic strips GoComics/Andrews McMeel

The Great GoComics Restoration

It was good news today as GoComics/Andrews McMeel has heard the pleas of comics fans and restored their Sunday comics to the full three tier format or title panels to most of their strips and panels.

Comics that have full original content making up the top tier of their comics all seem to be posted in full.

Comics with original drop panel content along side title panels are also presented in their entirety.

Even most of the unchanging title banners have been placed atop the original two tier comic strips.

Those strips usually presented in tabloid (or quarter page) format have been upgraded from third page status.

What didn’t come through was the title panels of those single or double tier comics as shown below with the Creator’s Daddy’s Home Sunday. Baldo, Breaking Cat News, Luann, and The Argyle Sweater are some of the strips that have those title panels. Luann’s title panel is only available in newspapers that run it in that format.

But it is all a great improvement over last Sunday’s truncated comics as presented on GoComics!

  1. suggestion: check “Luann” captioning of this article for accuracy (edited)

  2. The title panels on Patrick McDonnell’s Mutts are worth the price of admission alone.

    1. Mutts is a King Features strip, so it does not appear at GoComics. Fortunately, Comicskingdom.com does include McDonnell’s title panels with the Sunday strips, as does his own Mutts.com website. It would be nice if Arcamax would wake up and do the same.
