Patrick M. Reynolds studied art at the Pratt Institute in New York and illustration at Syracuse University. He served in the army during the Vietnam War. When he returned, Reynolds specialized in creating illustrated stories in comics form on the history of the United States, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and the Washington DC area, for newspapers, books, television, and magazines. Titles of features by Patrick Reynolds are ‘Flashbacks’, ‘Pennsylvania Profiles’, ‘Big Apple Almanac’, ‘Old New York’ and ‘Texas Lore’.

In 1995 Flashbacks honored the 50th anniversary of The Battle for Iwo Jima.
