Tauhid Bondia’s Comic Strip is Spreading Like … Well, Like Crabgrass

A couple months ago we noted that when Crabgrass, the new comic strip by Tauhid Bondia, debuted it did so in, among others, the entire McClatchy group of daily newspapers.

Last Sunday we reported that Crabgrass was one of the comic strips being signed on by The Waco Tribune Herald. At that time we said that on their signing Andrews McMeel Syndication(AMS) as exclusive supplier of comic strips:

If this is a company-wide move on the part of Lee Enterprises,
and there is no indication it is (yet), AMS gets a nice slice of the pie.

Well we’re not ready to state that as fact yet, but Andrews McMeel’s newest comic strip Crabgrass seems to be taking over Lee Enterprise newspapers.

Today saw Sioux City (Iowa) Journal Bruce Miller interview cartoonist Tauhid.

But what’s really significant is the other Lee Enterprises websites that also carried the interview.

The Buffalo News, The Rapid City Journal, The Danville Register & Bee, Roanoke Times, and on and on. I was going to name the eight newspapers that were originally listed but, checking back, the tally has grown to 41 Lee Enterprise websites carrying the interview as of this writing! Nearly half of the Lee newspapers. And the interview is still spreading.

Congratulations to Tauhid for a great start – and a great comic strip.

disclosure: The Daily Cartoonist plays on the same turf as Andrews McMeel.
