Writing about Camp Lord O' The Flies this past Thursday made me curious enough to go on-line to see if the (real) place is still around. Which it is. And they have some old photos on the site, so I went through those and saw a couple of people I remembered.
Oddly enough, my own face popped up in just one photo, and it's the one featuring the boxing ring. I think it's from 1966 (the year before I was dragooned into teaching the manly art). That's me in the striped shirt on the right.
And, while I'm pretty sure I know the bare-chested fellow with the camera to his face and one or two others, the only person in the picture I recognize for sure is the kid sitting down below me on the ring apron, facing the camera.
That's Jose, the kid whose family came to the banquet.
Strange coincidence, yes? I thought so.
