Comic Strip of the Day

CSotD: Valentine’s Day earworm

Edge_City

Edge City wins big points for not doing the traditional, seemingly mandatory "I bought you candy but then I ate it"  strip or the equally ubiquitous, equally tiresome  "Hubby forgot the holiday" strip.

On the other hand, this is really, really, really an infectious earworm for anyone under 70, since it refers to one of the most-frequently-covered songs ever.

I've heard it said that the best way to get rid of an earworm is to play the song. Scroll down and choose the version that will otherwise echo through your head for the rest of the day. And probably will anyway.

Of course, I said it was infectious, but I didn't say it was bad. As earworms go, this is one of the best.

  1. Nuh-uh. Not doing it. I don’t have the earworm from the comic – but I definitely will from the videos.
PS The Nazareth cover was the one for my generation. I was also pretty amazed to discover in my 20s that Joni Mitchell actually wrote and recorded “This Flight Tonight”. #embarrassing

  2. This made me realize how much I miss Roy Orbison…
