CSotD: le pauvre Mme. Sarkozy
I love the way Damien Glez, who is based in Burkina Faso, draws Sarkozy. Most Americans probably weren't aware of his lack of height until the "tippy-toes" photo when he stood with the Obamas and his wife, but Glez makes it a key part of the caricature.
It's also appealing to have an international political cartoonist who draws "story" style cartoons rather than the metaphors generally favored overseas. There are some who can make a statement with a metaphor, but how many Don Quixotes and Trojan Horses can you look at before they all seem kind of "meh"?
For those who don't speak French:
Ahmadinejad Defends Carla Bruno-Sarkozy
Carla: I've done nothing to deserve this.
Sarkozy: To be hated by Ahmadinejad's press?
Carla: No. To be loved by Ahmadinejad.
(This cartoon is one Glez posted on Facebook — this link will take you to his page on Daryl Cagle's site, where the cartoons are translated, although this one hasn't been posted yet.)
