CSotD: Intelligent discourse can, in fact, go down the drain

It's really strange to come across this Matt Bors cartoon having not caught the impetus for it, and then track down the video and find out that he's actually going easy on them.
I'm less concerned than Matt with the politics involved than I am with the sheer lack of analysis in that clip, and in the idea that people watch this dreck morning after morning. There is a shockingly inane level of discourse on these shows where all you really need to know to be an expert is how to operate a blow dryer. (Which factor is, I should add, not limited to Fox News, though they've perfected it.)
Watching these shows is like going to the worst party you've ever been to. And THEY criticize the world for letting undeserving people think they're special? Yowzah.
If you don't want to watch six minutes of former cheerleaders and drama majors who imagine themselves qualified to talk about politics and child psychology, here's a print summary.
The obvious joke would be that the reality is funnier than the cartoon, but there's nothing really very funny about it. There are people who take this stuff seriously and who vote based on these distortions, non sequiturs and outright falsehoods.
Go get'em, Matt.
