MarketWatch did a pretty lengthy article on The cartoon bank (free registration required) a creation of Bob Mankoff back in 1991. In a stroke of genius, he created the cartoon bank and later sold it to the New Yorker. The bank has over 85,000 cartoons that it licenses out to be published in books, magazines, slide shows and recently published “The Complete Cartoons of the New Yorker” which had every cartoon published in the New Yorker since 1925.

  3. Amazing project you have there. Before I left UK in 1965 I had 1 (one!)cartoon in the Daily Mirror – probably 1962. Is there maybe a way of finding it so I can make a copy for old time’s sake? Yours,
