Flash Gordon by Mark Schultz and Al Williamson New Edition
Skip to commentsIn 1995 not-yet Prince Valiant scribe Mark Schultz partnered with never-official Flash Gordon artist Al Williamson to create a two issue Flash Gordon comic book for Marvel Comics.
Though he was never the official artist of the comic strip Al Williamson famously drew Flash Gordon at various times from 1966 to 1995 for comic books, ads, and specialty zines to the delight of fans.

But Williamson did contribute to the comic strip. First as an art assistant/ghost for Dan Barry in 1953 and then, with the help of Jim Keefe, we got Al Williamson on the Flash Gordon comic strip as a guest artist.
As for Mark Schultz he also has delighted fans with a few drawings of Flash Gordon.

And surreptitiously Mark wrote a Flash Gordon comic strip adventure when he snuck the space cowboy, under the alias of ‘St. George,’ into a Prince Valiant episode that ran from October 9, 2011 to March 18, 2012.
Mad Cave is on a Flash Gordon kick collecting the comic strip in hardbound collections and publishing new comic book adventures of Flash and Dale. They are also collecting the comic books in newly bound editions. The latest is the aforementioned 1995 two-issue series by Mark Schultz and Al Williamson in one trade paperback edition.
