Tom Gauld Awarded Le Prix Gotlib 2026
Skip to commentsScottish cartoonist Tom Gauld is the first non-French cartoonist to be honored with the Le Prix Gotlib (The Gotlib Prize) for humorous cartoon book. Until this year, the prize for humor has been awarded solely to a French cartoonist or French language book of humor. His book “Physics for Cats” was originally published by Drawn and Quarterly followed by a French translation (“La Physique pour les chats“) by Edition2024 two months later.




This is the second collection of his science themed cartoons. His collection “Revenge of the Librarians” was a finalist for The Gotlib Prize in 2023, and won an Eisner that same year. His cartoons regularly appear in The Guardian,The New Yorker andNew Scientist.
Tom received the Le Prix Gotlib trophy and a prize purse of €5000 during the du Festival du Livre de Paris (Paris Book Festival) held April 18.
The other finalists for the prize include:

- “Variété française“ (“French Pop”) by Bernstein et Jouffroy
- “Trous de mémoires“ (“Memory Lapses”) by Nicolas Junker
