Graphic Medicine Europe Announces Inaugural Conference

The newly formed Graphic Medicine Europe has announce their inaugural Graphic Medicine Europe Conference to be held later this year on Sept 9 – 12. The conference will be held at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam on September 9-10 and at the annual Cross Comix festival at De Doelen in Rotterdam on the 11-12th. The theme is “Imagination, Mediation, & Manifestation.”

Call For Papers

For the academically portion of the conference at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Graphic Medicine Europe is welcoming paper and panel proposals on the conference theme of IMAGINATION, MEDIATION, & MANIFESTATION. Deadline for paper or panel submission is April 30. Confirmation will be sent to presenters by May 15.

  • Ana Patrícia Hilario, keynote lecture
  • Eszter Szép, comics brewery
  • John Miers and Erin La Cour, Why Graphic Medicine? book launch
  • Sabba Khan, artist talk
  • Octavia Roodt, artist talk
  • Graphic Medicine Exhibition
  • Makers Market

Graphic Medicine Europe is an independent research organization dedicated to the study and practice of Graphic Medicine. They work in collaboration with the Graphic Medicine International Collective along with other European associations like Graphic Medicine Italia and Sociedad Española de Medicina Gráfica.

  1. Fantastic! One of the best things about being in on the ground floor of graphic medicine since its first conference in London in 2010 has been watching it grow internationally. This looks like a good group of people and an interesting theme that should inspire a lot of good work and collaboration.
