Brian Biggs Launches “Sitting Around Talking About Art Supplies”

Illustrator Brian Biggs has launched a weekly Youtube channel called Sitting Around Talking About Art Supplies. His teaser:

Do you like art supplies? Are you fascinated with those weird pens and expensive pencils? Why are crayons so great? Do you hoard procreate brushes and have a pinterest board for letterpress machines? I know I do. I’m Brian Biggs and I’m going to sit around and talk about art supplies.

If you answered yes to one or more of the above questions (personally: yes, yes, tell me more, no but starting one now), watch the teaser below.

His Substack post has more information about his goals:

The idea is that each week I’ll post a short video where I am talking about my tools and the things I make with them. It might be the pens and pencils I’m using in a children’s book project. It might be something new I found at Blick. I’m using the term “art supply” loosely here — I’ll have the traditional art-making tools, of course. But I’ll be talking about some of my favorite Procreate brushes, my chisels, my stacks of collage materials, maybe even my table saw. Anything I use to make my work is game.

  1. I could talk about art supplies forever…

  2. Since second grade, when I walked into my first art supply store in Portsmouth, NH, and I breathed in oil paint, turps, and fresh graphite, I have been hooked! I know I will watch.

  3. I worked for Sax Arts and Crafts in Milwaukee years ago. So very many different art supplies, categories, sub-categories, sub-sub-categories, ad nauseam. I miss getting weird things like Elfskin and Poms.
