Comic Strip of the Day

CSotD: Just can’t get enough spam

Edge_City

Timing is everything in comedy.

Thanks to syndicate deadlines, a lot of cartoons are just starting to cycle into their tar-on-the-beach story arcs as that part of the disaster is no longer a major issue. Tant pis.

But  today's "Edge City" hits at a point in time at which Facebook has suddenly been deluged with outrageous data mining scams, followed by frantic "Don't click on this!" messages from people who suddenly realize that they have passed links to these "Win a free laptop!" scams along, and claims of identity theft from those who gave up their entire friends' list by clicking on "like" so they could see a hilarious picture of a cute little kitty.

I'll be watching Edge City to see how this story arc develops.

I'll also be watching Facebook to see if this sudden flood of warnings, apologies and recriminations is anything more than a handy hook for Terry and Patty LaBan's comic. Could it be that Facebook users are finally wising up to the folly of trying every new game and clicking on every humorous link?

lol indeed.
