The Nancy Notice
Anyone with access to social media has seen those Nancy “Notice/No Ice” panels, it is ubiquitous. What may surprise some is that they are exactly as Ernie Bushmiller drew them and not manipulated. Here is the entire 1944 strip showing the two panels in their original context.

American Revolution Funnies
It is always a delight when two of my favorite flavors come together in a perfect blend.

So it is with Peter Bagge‘s four page profile of Mercy Otis Warren in the latest issue of Reason magazine. Sister of Sam Adams’ mentor James Otis, wife of early American Revolution patriot James Warren, and a firebrand in her own right (and write).
Bootlegs

Also omnipresent on my social media feeds.
So they look really nice. But taking the first image for an example of all the others I would have to guess that they are all bootlegs as Bill Watterson would never sign off on this licensing of Calvin and Hobbes.

7 Animated Pictures are Oscar-Eligible for Best Picture

The Academy Award people listed the movies that are acceptable to be considered for Best Picture Oscar and Animation Magazine has the list of animated features that made it to that list:
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences today revealed the list of 201 films eligible for consideration in the race for Best Picture at the 98th Oscars this year. It was also shared that a total of 317 films are in the running across all Oscar categories this year.
While animation has historically been left out of the nominations for Best Picture, several major studio features and a few high-profile imports made the initial consideration cut.
Making the list are The Bad Guys 2, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, Dog Man, Elio, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, Scarlet, and Zootopia 2
Animation Magazine had previously let us in on the list of Best Animated Feature eligible films.
