Another step toward realization for the Bloom County animation series.
Tim Long (The Simpsons) has signed on to co-write and showrun Bloom County, the upcoming FOX animated series based on the acclaimed comic strip of the same name created and written by Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, screenwriter, producer and children’s book author Berkeley Breathed.
Breathed, who is co-writing and executive producing the series, created a special new piece of artwork featuring Bloom County’s beloved Opus the Penguin to mark the announcement.

Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Berkeley Breathed had an up-close and personal encounter with a critter that would make anyone who was paying attention jump out of their skin.
Luckily for Breathed, the creator of the “Bloom County” comic strip, the 65-year-old wasn’t paying attention and walked right over a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. Breathed on Tuesday posted a 10-second video clip on Facebook of him leaving his house and walking by the snake that slithered just inches from his left foot.
