Gripe: Too Many Comics in My Newspaper

The Lancaster Pennsylvania newspaper, LNP, received a letter to the editor:

I have a question for your newspaper editor or editorial board or whomever. Do you actually pay to support 38 comic strip writers in your paper? Count them!

You are raising my subscription cost for LNP | LancasterOnline again.

Since there are polls for everything, have you ever considered taking a poll in your newspaper to see how many people subscribe for the comic strips?

Read some of the cartoons someday, and then see if there is a need to ask why.

I don’t have a current issue of the newspaper, but it seems they have reduced the number of comic strips since October 15, 2014 when they were running 45 strips and panels.

In trying to correct an error I have found a recent sample of the LPN comics pages.

I think most papers would be improved 100% by running two pages of comics.
It would even, in my mind, make them worth the price of admission.

  1. Yes I did. Thanks for the catch.
In going back to retrieve the correct page from 2014 I found the current (June 23, 2022) comics pages for the newspaper with the 38 comic strips and panels the letter writer referred to.
… so that worked out to the good.
