The Jeer in Review: the Wisconsin State Journal presents Phil Hands‘ best cartoons from 2018

I’m not that old, but I do remember the good old days when politics were boring: Speeches were made. Platitudes were uttered. Budgets and bills were proposed. Outrage was feigned and then ignored. Government chugged along, and most of us were too busy to care.

Today, our politics are anything but boring.

An introduction by Phil.

Another year’s worth of gems from the Star Tribune‘s editorial cartoonist Steve Sack

As Mike Peterson noted Steve Sack’s output had slowed earlier this year.

Steve told us:

You may have noticed a message on these pages for a while now that I have been on “medical leave.” To clear up the mystery, early last summer I was diagnosed with cancer. After successful surgery, chemo and radiation treatments, my prognosis is good. Working from home, I’ve been able to contribute cartoons on a sporadic basis. I’m pleased to report that beginning in January I will be returning to the office, and hopefully it will not be long before I am fully up to speed. I want to thank you (and the Star Tribune) for your patience with my lengthy recovery. And I send a special appreciation to the many readers who sent me letters, calls and e-mails of support. You’re the best!

We wish Steve only good will, and a full recovery, for 2019.
