Another Kung Fu Panda claim that studio stole idea

Another individual has filed a suit against DreamWorks Animation alleging the studio stole their ideas for the feature film Kung Fu Panda. The new suit is by Jayme Gordon who claims he pitched the idea for a film with similar characters back when DWA CEO Jefferey Katzenberg was with Walt Disney Studios.

In the suit, Gordon claims he sent art representing kung fu fighting snakes, red pandas, mantises and snow leopards to DWA CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg’s previous company, Walt Disney Studios.

All of those animals appear in the film and are featured in its upcoming sequel “Kung Fu Panda 2.”

“Upon information and belief, access to Gordon’s illustrated literary works and, in particular, Gordon’s Kung Fu Panda Power work, enabled the Defendants to create and exploit their own Kung Fu Panda franchise,” the suit reads.

I reported back in December that Terence Dunn filed a suit because he had pitched a “spiritual kung-fu fighting panda bear” to the studio in 2001 which bore a resemblance to the 2008 “Kung Fu Panda” feature film.
