Broadway Spidey takes a dive, show will go on

The Broadway adaptation of Spider-Man temporary closed yesterday and today after a Spider-Man costumed performer plunged 30 feet into the orchestra pit after a cable snapped. He suffered “a few broken ribs.” The show now has a three part safety procedure before each stunt.

Cox told reporters that before each stunt, the operator or stagehand will fix the latch to the harness of the performer. Then, another stagehand nearby will verify that it’s attached properly. That second person will then be in contact with the stage manager to verify the measures have been completed.

The show is expected to resume today. This is just one of a string of accidents that have plagued the show. Popeater.com has a more detailed report of each of the separate incidents.
