Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that they’ve created three new 3D shorts to premiere before three of their upcoming features. The first short was released last weekend with Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, another will be released with Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole in September and the last one in December with the Yogi Bear feature.
In the new cartoon shorts, each three minutes in length, Wile E. Coyote is as determined as ever to catch the elusive Road Runner, who continues to leave his hapless nemesis in the dust with a taunting “beep-beep.” However, bringing the classic characters into the 21st century, the resourceful Wile E. will now be employing an arsenal of state-of-the-art ACME gadgets to snag his quarry?with all of the action in stereographic 3D.
Sounds like Wiley may have a chance this time around.
These always seem to premiere before some animated feature. Why not also run them before a live action drama, comedy or even more fun, a horror movie?
OK, I read this headline completely wrong – I was expecting an article about running shorts – you know – like merchandizing. With maybe a Where’s Waldo type element thrown in.
I love the Road Runner and Coyote shorts. I am glad to see more of the Warner Bros classics reappearing. I want to make sure my kids know who Daffy Duck is.
These 3D CG shorts look amazing. I don’t like the way they are marketed though. If WB really wanted to reach a wider audience with their shorts to PERHAPS actually create a MARKET for them, they would release them with other types of films rather than just kid movies and animated movies. A CG Road Runner short infront of The Hangover would probably have been awesomely received.
Yeah, I’d like to see these in 3D in the cinema…but I have absolutely zero intention of paying to see Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

As it happened, I took my 7 year old boy to see ‘Cats & Dogs’ only because we adopted a dog and the shelter gave us two tickets as a thank you gift…the short was the best thing about the movie. Brilliant work, although Wile E’s various brutal come-
uppances seemed more visceral in the computer-animated 3D format…when he gets hit by a truck, or gets blown up in a dynamite inferno it has a serious impact! But I thought it was cool, and my boy was in hysterics. He’s seen some of the old ones too, of course.
