Lio, Cul de Sac, Argyle Sweater get animated

ComicsDC Mike Rhode notes that Andrews McMeel has posted animations of Richard Thompson’s Cul de Sac and Scott Hilburn’s Argyle Sweater on YouTube. I also notice that they have a Mark Tatulli Lio animation as well.

The animation is reportedly done by RingTales who does all the New Yorker and Dilbert animations.

UPDATE: Received notice from Universal Press clarifying ownership of the above mentioned videos. RingTales did NOT produce the Lio and Argyle Sweater videos, but they did do the Cul de Sac video which Universal Press has since removed from their YouTube channel because technically RingTales has the distribution rights. Sorry all.

  1. Why was Cul de Sac removed?

I think this is a great idea & hope more strips explore the unlimited (and exciting) potential of the web.

  2. I wonder if these are intended to generate revenues directly, or just a cool way to sell the books?

  3. Those are absolutely horrendous. I really hope this trend does not pick up steam.

  4. These could have potential, but as the animation is rather shoddy and cheap looking, I don’t see these going any furthur than they already have with their built in audiences of… us.
