As I mentioned earlier, Draw Something is a new app that has become quite popular – one of the most played apps in the iTunes App Store (there is an Android version). Think of it as Pictionary with a friend on a phone (or an iPad).

I asked a few notable cartoonists to play the game (if they weren’t already) and send me their drawings. I’ve erased their names and the word they were drawing. Now it’s up to you. Figure out the word they’re drawing AND here’s the tough part – figure out which artist drew it. I’ll give you a list of artists to choose from.

Here are the artists who’s work you’ll see today:

Jason Chatfield: Jason is the cartoonist for Ginger Meggs, a stand up comedian, and the current President of the Australian Cartoonists’ Association.

Mike Cope: Representing the fine folks from Canada, Mike is a freelance illustrator who’s work graces books, magazines, online media. He also wrote the book Last of the Funnies.

Stacy Curtis: Stacy is the new inker for Richard Thompson’s Cul de Saccomic strip. He’s also an award winning cartoonist, children’s book illustrator and printmaker.

Chris Eliopoulos: is an Eisner and Harvey Award nominee. He does the delightful webcomic Misery Loves Sherman and the co-creator of the new Cowboy graphic novel.

Shannon Wheeler: is an Eisner Award-winning creator of Too Much Coffee Man. He was also won an Eisner award for his book, I Thought You Would Be Funnier – which was also nominated for a Harvey Award.

Check back throughout the day. I’ll be posting more drawings as the day goes on.

Starting tomorrow, I’m kicking off a game here on The Daily Cartoonist. I’m sure many of you have heard of the app Draw Something (free and paid versions of iPad/iPhone and Android devices). Think of it as Pictionary on your phone with a friend. According to one source it took AOL nine years to acquire a million users, Facebook nine months and Draw Something only nine days.

This last week I started contacted a few well known, award winning cartoonists and asked them to send me their Draw Something drawings. The challenge for you, The Daily Cartoonist readers, is to correctly identify the object they drew AND (here’s the challenge) figure out which cartoonist drew it.

Like the real game, you’ll know how many letters are in the word and have letters to choose from. Also provided will be a list of cartoonists. In some of drawings, you can see hints of their artistic style, but because many are drawing on their phone with their finger, it might not always be apparent.

Should be fun. I’m looking forward to it.

In addition to the game described above, you’re invited to send me your best Draw Something. I will compile the best of the best and post them Friday of next week. Send them to this email address: drawsomething@dailycartoonist.com

To kick it all off, here’s one of mine recent Draw Somethings.
