Time to divulge the subject of the new graphic novel I’m working on these days while awaiting the publication of my Ernie Bushmiller bio. It’s the story of my great-grandfather, the famous photographer and “father of the picture postcard”, William Henry Jackson.

A Conversation with Tom Falco

Cartoonist Tom Falco sat down for an interview.

For many years my goal was to be published in daily newspapers; and I was for awhile … Now the place to be is online.

I have been influenced by Hanna-Barbera, Charles Schulz and until recently I didn’t realize, but a lot of my drawing style comes from Ralph Dunagin, who did a comic called “Dunagin’s People,” years ago. I loved it when I was a kid, but I didn’t realize until he died recently and was brought to my attention, that a lot of my drawing style came from him – the way I draw – the breaks in my lines, the way I draw clothing and faces – so much of it comes from him.

Strange Death with Alex Raymond

The loooong delayed Dave Sim project The Strange Death of Alex Raymond is now on a schedule to be published and in comic book stores this July.

Now, in The Strange Death of Alex Raymond, Sim brings to life the history of comics’ greatest creators, using their own techniques. Equal parts Understanding Comics and From Hell, Strange Death is a head-on collision of ink drawing and spiritual intrigue, pulp comics and movies, history and fiction.

Dave Sim has more at A Moment of Cerebus.
