The National Cartoonists Society has announced that it will be awarding its Silver T-Square to Andrews McMeel President and Editorial Director John Glynn:

From NCS President Jason Chatfield:

On behalf of the board of directors of the National Cartoonists Society, It is my great pleasure to announce that John Glynn will be awarded the Silver T-Square at the 74th Annual Reuben Awards in Kansas City!

The Silver T-Square is awarded, by unanimous vote of the NCS Board, to persons who have demonstrated outstanding dedication or service to the Society or the profession. We are so pleased to be able to recognize John’s long-standing commitment in contributing his time, energy, expertise and support to both the National Cartoonists Society and its members, and the part he has played in helping to advance the careers of so many cartoonists.

As Jason notes, this is not the first management person to receive the T-Square. Sylvan Beck, Joseph D’Angelo, John McMeel, Tim Rosenthal, and Lee Salem have preceded John. And then there was Al Smith, Steve Douglas, and Brendan Burford who were both cartoonists and executives; which may be where John Glynn falls, as he does an almost daily cartoon at GoComics.

The award will be presented during the74th Annual Reuben Awards weekend, 5th-7th June 2020, in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Reuben Awards Weekend will, in part, be a celebration of
the Andrews McMeel/Universal Press Syndicate 50th Anniversary.

Which brings us back to John Glynn’s Ask a Portly Syndicate Person of today:

Congratulations to John Glynn and Andrews McMeel.

Keep track of The Reuben Awards news at the National Cartoonists Society site.

full disclosure: The Daily Cartoonist is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Andrews McMeel,
while John Glynn is a contributor to, and benevolent overlord of, The Daily Cartoonist.
