For Jerry Craft Comic Reading Was Fundamental

In sequential panels cartoonist Jerry Craft, for the New York Times Book Review,
tells how comic books were a portal to “heavier” literature.

[Aside: Science backs up Jerry.]

The Review notes that, “Jerry Craft is the author and illustrator of the graphic novel “New Kid,” winner of the 2019 Kirkus Prize for Young Readers’ Literature.”

Which makes me think we never congratulated Jerry for that Kirkus honor.

Though the Kirkus Prize is far from the only praise heaped on Jerry’s New Kid.

And think – we knew him when he was one of Mama’s Boyz.
