Edgar Rice Burroughs Authorized Library – Tarzan

As long as I’m going off-topic of my self-imposed rules…

The Edgar Rice Burroughs Authorized Library

For the first time, the Edgar Rice Burroughs Authorized Library presents the complete literary works of the Master of Adventure in uniform hardcover editions. Published by the company founded by Mr. Burroughs in 1923, each volume of the Authorized Library is packed with extras and rarities not to be found in any other edition.

I probably first became aware of Tarzan with the Johnny Weissmuller movies as shown continually on the television of my youth. Tarzan, through the books, comics, movies, and TV shows, is known world-wide. After many authorized editions of the books, comes the “ultimate” reissue published by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. itself..

From Pop Culture Safari:

Published by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., the company founded by Mr. Burroughs in 1923, each volume of the Authorized Library is packed with extras and rarities not to be found in any other edition. Featuring exclusives ranging from artwork by the legendary Joe Jusko to forewords and afterwords by today’s authorities and luminaries to a treasure trove of rare and never-before-published bonus materials mined from the company’s extensive archives in Tarzana, California, the Edgar Rice Burroughs Authorized Library will take readers on a journey of wonder and imagination they will never forget.

The Library begins with Burroughs’ most famous creation, no doubt hoping the monies gathered from it will enable the company to produce The Complete Works. Personally I’m a bit conflicted. My way of thinking is prose works should be 5″ x 8″, not the 9″ x 12″ of these editions; I’m not sure I have ever read novels or non-fiction at this larger size; other than reference or highly illustrated works.
That said, I have no idea what the bonus material is.
