Sam Gross: 50 Years as New Yorker Cartoonist

It was the 1960s and Sam Gross began his cartooning career.
Like other cartoonists he had a number of goals, but one was foremost.

To paraphrase: not because it is easy, but because it is hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of his energies and skills, because that challenge is one that he was willing to accept, one he was unwilling to postpone, and one he intended to win.

Sam. like the USA and NASA, achieved the dream in that same decade
– selling a cartoon to The New Yorker.

And since it is still August, a belated Happy Birthday Sam!
