Paul Krassner: Yippie Realist, Cartoon Supporter – RIP

It is being reported that Paul Krassner has passed away.

From Politico:

Paul Krassner, the publisher, author and radical political activist on the front lines of 1960s counterculture who helped tie together his loose-knit prankster group by naming them the Yippies, died Sunday in Southern California, his daughter said.

The Realist was the adult counterculture version of MAD magazine.

Begun on a shoestring budget it could ill afford cartoonists, though it featured them from the beginning. It soon became a favorite of emerging and established cartoonists. A place where their subversive and obscene cartoons, which were rejected by the more respectable magazines like The New Yorker and Playboy, were welcomed and published.
