Gary Varvel Returns to Print in Indianapolis

Earlier this year Gary Varvel accepted the buyout offered by the Indianapolis Star,
now he will return to drawing local politics by way of the Indianapolis Business Journal.

IBJ will begin featuring editorial cartoons from award-winning cartoonist Gary Varvel, starting with the April 12 issue.

Varvel will contribute a cartoon twice a month to IBJ’s op-ed pages. He joins Shane Johnson, who has been an IBJ editorial cartoonist for seven years and will continue as a regular cartoonist for the publication.

“We are thrilled to begin regularly featuring Gary Varvel’s conservative take on local and national news in IBJ,” Editor Greg Andrews said. “He’s established himself as one of the leading editorial cartoonists in the nation.”

Varvel’s cartoons also will be featured regularly in IBJ’s Forefront supplement, which focuses on politics and public policy and publishes twice a month. In addition, Varvel will write a monthly column for Forefront.

“I have always respected IBJ for its excellent journalism and I’m honored to be a small part of its great opinion section, Forefront,” he said.
