Rob Rogers wins this year’s Berryman Award

A big congratulations to a well deserving editorial cartoonist, Rob Rogers of the Pittsburg Post-Gazette, for being awarded this year’s Berryman Award for Editorial Cartooning.

From the Post-Gazette:

The winning portfolio included cartoons about police facing cellphone video cameras, the Charlie Hebdo killings in Paris, the campaign between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Bernie Sanders for the Democratic presidential nomination, the stand of Pope Francis on climate change and the proliferation of gun sales in the United States.

The judges said, ?Rogers has a vivid visual style that invites you in. He tackles really heavy issues with a light-handed visual touch. He leaves no confusion about his point of view; he knows what he wants to say.?

Unfortunately the National Press Foundation doesn’t post samples of Rob’s winning portfolio, but you can see his current and past work on his blog.

  1. Rob is truly an exceptional editorial cartoonist! Just as one could always identify a Jeff MacNelly editorial cartoon by his unique and masterful drawing style, one can do the same today with Rob’s work. We in the Pittsburgh region are quite lucky to have a newspaper that recognizes the value of an excellent editorial cartoonist and that provides all of us the opportunity to see his commentary on a regular basis. And they, in turn, are lucky to have Rob drawing attention to their editorial pages! Congratulations to Rob!

  2. Congratulations Rob on winning the Berryman Award. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy or a better editorial cartoonist. Keep up the great work!
