Human Rights Watch honors Zunar for “asserting freedom of expression in the face of repression”

From The Malay Mail:

Controversial cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Haque, popularly known as Zunar, has been recognised by the Human Rights Watch (HRW) for his fight to uphold freedom of expression.

The international non-governmental organisation?s Asia division deputy director Phil Robertson told Malay Mail Online that Zunar will be receiving a cash prize to help him battle the nine sedition charges brought against him by the government over his cartoons which often ridicules Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak?s administration.

There is no formal award ceremony. The award is cash to help Zunar fight legal battles waged by the Malaysian government. He’s been charged with sedition.
