Watched the newly released The Peanuts Movie

Today 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios released a new trailer for THE PEANUTS MOVIE!. It’s the most extensive peek into this anticipated release (November 6, 2015). My first reaction to the announcement was of worry that this was going to totally wreck any positive feelings for the original Peanuts. As more of these teasers and trailers have been released, I’m more and more excited that it might actually be good.

Here is the video:

And the official movie poster:

And a few screen shots I’ve grabbed from the trailer. It’s very impressive the detail they’ve been able to capture.

  1. The trailer looks pretty good. I’m impressed (and pleased to see) that the characters remained as I remember them.

  2. This is what syndicates need to focus on. Comic strips are almost dead, but the characters can get a second life in film. Marvel went bankrupt before they were able to transition to movies. Marvel’s original management LOST BILLIONS. The syndicates and creators need to start pitching scripts immediately. Forget newspapers. They’re gonna die. Fast. Soon. Overnight. Learn from Marvel’s history. Forget your strip. Worry about your screenplay.

  3. Brilliant. What I saw really captured the joy and humor I experienced when I started reading Peanuts in 1974, in the newspaper and in the books… Looking forward to it!

  4. The film looks good but I really question whether it will do all that well. For those old enough to have been raised when the comics page was all there was know the strip and have a closer connection to Peanuts. Unfortunately for most others Peanuts is just one of fifty other holiday specials on tv every year. I know people who if you asked them about Peanuts don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.
