Daddy’s Home to feature story-line on Hurricane Sandy relief

Daddys Home
Next Monday, Tony Rubino and Gary Markstein’s Daddy’s Home will feature a week long story-line about Hurricane Sandy relief and restoration efforts. The cartoon will also feature a “How You Can Help” box which directs readers to visit the relief organization websites in New Jersey and New York.

The American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Feeding America are running the strips on their web sites.

Tony grew up in New Jersey and now lives in New York City where he witnessed the Hurricane?s devastation.

Tony writes:

I wanted to do something for the communities where the Hurricane hit, because Sandy effected so many people and places I know and love. And I want people to be aware that progress is being made but there?s still work to do. I grew up going to the Jersey shore. So many of my old stomping grounds were just wiped out. And I have an uncle in Brooklyn whose home was virtual ruined by flooding. Syndicated comic strips are unique because they give the few of us lucky enough to be in mainstream daily circulation the ability to have a voice in major news media, every day, 365 days a year. No other commercial art form allows for that reach. So it?s the least I can do to dedicate a week of writing to try and help in some small way.
