Comic book and comic strip Easter Eggs

Yesterday I linked to known Easter Eggs found in Cars 2 (and many other Pixar films). Brian Cronin, over at Comic Book Resources, will be compiling Easter Eggs found in comic books. Today’s post is various comic strip characters who were inserted into comics.

The image below is from Fantastic Four #276 and shows Reed and Sue Richards being introduced to their new neighbors. Which neighbors are they?

Brian will be documenting Easter Eggs throughout July.

  1. Left to right, The Lockhorns, Blondie, Walt from “Gasoline Alley,” Jiggs from “Bringing Up Father,” up front: Dagwood, Dagwood’s neighbor, Herb and Henry Mitchell from “Dennis the Menace.”
On the couch, I have no idea who the couple is, with possibly Dick Tracy?

  2. I’m going to go with Dick Tracy sitting with the couple on the couch (could have pronounced the nose a bit more, IMHO), but as to who the couple is, I’m baffled.

  3. Someone should ask Byrne, since I’ve never gotten a good answer as to who the red-headed woman is. The guy next to her is almost certainly Joe Palooka, but Palooka’s girlfriend did not have red hair. A coloring mistake, perhaps?
