Zapiro’s satirical puppet show to finally air

Two years after being pulled from the South African network line-up, Jonathan Shapiro’s (“Zapiro”) satirical puppet show will finally hit the air tomorrow night. The show was set to air in 2008 and the pilot was partially funded by the SABC, but the network pulled the show before it could debut citing “sensitivity of viewers.”

When it hits television screens tomorrow, it will be shown as a three-minute headline satirical broadcast shortly before the 10pm news. A repeat flighting will be screened just before 8am each day on Dstv’s Summit on channel 412.

The show had been developed over a 10-year period and made use of life-size puppets of political and well-known figures.
