Saginaw stereotype in cartoon upsets readers

saginaw-controversy

It seems like college cartoon controversies happen in bunches. Here’s another from Michigan. Apparently a comic strip that appeared in the Delta College newspaper painted the city of Saginaw, MI as a place of drugs and violence – which didn’t go over well with readers – despite unscientific polls that showed people thought the stereotype was right on.

You say that like it’s a bad thing.

At least the college cartoonists are getting a reaction.

If they mean the city of Saginaw…yeah, I wouldn’t think it’s that far off. But the ‘suburbs’ aren’t nearly as bad as the city.
