Joe Martin’s Mr. Boffo to be spokescomic for stop smoking initiative
Joe Martin’s Mr. Boffo comic will serve as spokescomic for the first annual “Boffo” St. Valentine’s Day SmokeOut – an initiative created by relationship columnist Dr. Jon Carlson who is advocating that on Valentines day this year that smokers quit the habit for themselves and their loved ones. The Mr. Boffo cartoon features a group of ghosts outside of the cemetery gates lighting up. The cartoon has also been made into an animation that can be downloaded for free for newspaper web sites.

Wow! As a non-smoker, I have to say that animated cartoon makes me realize how rewarding that long, cool drag is going to be after my inevitable journey to the other side.
It comes across more as a pro-smoking statement than an anti-smoking statement. I don’t see how it’s going to convince anyone who hasn’t been convinced by other campaigns to stop smoking.
