Over the Hedge DVD Release date set

Michael Fry and T. Lewis’ Over the Hedge comic that became one of the block buster movies of early summer is set to be released to DVD on October 17. According to the Reuter’s story the DVD will include a hybernated feature that can be activated after November 28 (presumably to coincide with peak Christmas buying season), a four minute mini-movie with all the original voice talent.  The mini-movie is a parody of reality tv called “Hammy’s Boomerang Adventure.”

The DVD also includes “Behind the Hedge,” a look at the real-life animals that inspired the film’s critters; filmmaker commentaries; a mock “infomercial” spoofing the career opportunities of pest control; a “making-of” documentary; cast interviews; and a virtual drawing lesson by a DreamWorks animator on how to sketch Hammy.

Over the Hedge took in $151.7 million domestically.

  3. I will have to admit that after movies like Madagascar and even The Wild.. Over the Hedge really stood out to me..Visually I can’t say that animation CGI can beat the looks of The Wild..That one was pretty darn impressive..But there’s alot more to a movie than just eye candy..The squirrel in this movie is about as good of a character as you will ever find..Very likeable, gullable, good hearted, naive, and sweet all rolled up in one furry tail..Everyone loves the squirrel..Even from the very first few seconds (literally) of the characters presence on the screen, you’ll see he is really somewhat the star of the show…Even topping Cid from Ice Age in my opinion..And that character being about the closest to comparison that I can give.. I am absolutely sure that I will own this movie and will be one of my favorites out of my pretty large 700 dvd collection that I have at this time.. My home theatre is a panasonic pt-L 500U high def projector viewed on a 11′ by 7′ screen.. 1,000 watt pioneer system..Animation movies truly look and sound better than they do at the theatre..I enjoy all movies and pc gaming on it as well.. But really the bright colors really seem to come to life on my theatre best..I am truly looking forward to watching this one at home and is definitely one that I would recommend to anyone..
