Congrats to Mr. Horsey. Re. rest of comments, not sure this is forum for technical/opinion discussion. Unauthorized? Two programs: international calls and domestic data mining (won't address HP - commercial, likely violation of criminal and civil federal statutes). are under judicial review - which will affirm all or part of legality. "Listening in" is common misconception - conjures images of 1950s era people sitting at consoles with headsets. Suggest researching data mining or "eavesdropping" in the digital age, development of algorithms, etc. Answers to your questions are available, not too exciting - doubtful if the salacious conversations of the "famous" are an element of the triggers. What a thought - that there are people who aren't really interested in what the "famous" are doing! :)

The Irony Challenged... absolutely dead (sorry) center... exactly what I have been thinking since the reaction over the Pope's words. A sort of QED eh?

Now dream up a similar cartoon about the government's unauthorized wiretap program and the uproar over HP's pretexting scandal. I continue to wonder what they (NSA et. al.) do with all the "non security" information they listen to... what do they do with a conversation about say fraud, crime, illegal business practices etc. or even just the titillating behavior of the famous.

Cheers
