MacKinnon, Chapleau, Gable up for NNA

Bruce MacKinnon of The Chronicle Herald, Serge Chapleau of Montreal?s La Presse and Brian Gable of the Globe and Mail have been nominated for the prestigious National Newspaper Award.

From the Canadian Cartoonist’s web site:

Mr. MacKinnon, whose work in The Chronicle Herald has garnered international recognition in the past, has been nominated for a 2005 National Newspaper Award.

This is his fifth nomination for the annual award recognizing the country?s best editorial cartoonists. He took home top honours in the category in 1992 and 1993 and was last nominated in 1998 and 1999.

“It?s a huge honour,” Mr. MacKinnon said Friday, shortly after the nominations were announced. “Especially with the two cartoonists I?m up against ? they?re both at the top of the game ? not just here in the country but anywhere on the planet you look.”

Also nominated in the editorial cartooning category are Serge Chapleau of Montreal?s La Presse and Brian Gable of the Globe and Mail. Mr. Chapleau was nominated for a ninth time and is a five-time award winner.
